Ford Explorer 2017 Changes, Price

The Ford Explorer 2017 is a crossover SUV that brings new technology and a new look. It will have a refreshed exterior, better suspension, updated security features and minor improvements to the interior. This SUV is targeting large families that want large spacious vehicles that offer comfort and luxury. It is also has a relatively good fuel efficiency and is being offered at an affordable price. With Ford Explorer sales peaking in the last five years, this new addition into the foray will cement their place. There will be five trims on offer for this model: Base, XLT, Limited, Sport and Platinum.

Ford Explorer 2017 – First impression:

The front fascia of the Ford Explorer 2017 has been modified and features a new bumper and grill, a redesigned hood with contour lines and LED low beam headlights. A front camera and parking sensors have also been added and the base trim will have 18 inch alloy wheels while higher trims have 20 inch wheels installed. There will be five entry points with the chassis being made of premium light materials. Higher trims will have a moon roof, rain sensing wipers and high intensity discharge headlights. The rear also has a facelift with a new bumper and modified pillars, LED tail lights and a double exhaust system.

The interior of the Ford Explorer 2017 will be made of quality materials and feature the latest technological gadgets. The cabin is spacious and can fit in 7 passengers in a 2-3-2 arrangement. Standard features include quality cloth upholstery on the seats with the second row split folding 60/40 and the third row 50/50. Infotainment and navigation is controlled via a 4.2 inch touch screen display. There also will be an AM/FM radio, a CD player, Bluetooth connectivity, auxiliary audio ports, USB ports and a quality 6 speaker audio system offered as standard features. Higher trims have leather upholstery, satellite radio, a heated and leather-covered power steering wheel and 8 way adjustable front bucket seats. Security is also a priority in this SUV and will include: traction control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.

Ford Explorer 2017 – Engine Offerings:

The 3 engine options will be offered for the Ford Explorer 2017 and all are mated with a six speed automatic transmission gearbox. The base engine is a 3.5 liter V6 unit that outputs 280 horsepower and 255 pound foot of torque, power will be transmitted to the front wheels. For the sport and platinum trims; this same 3.5 liter engine has been tweaked to produce more power and it will churn out 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. For better fuel economy, buyers can choose the third engine option which is a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder engine that outputs 270 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Fuel efficiency for all these engines is an average of 22 miles per gallon, which is impressive for an SUV its size. Towing capacity has also increased to 5000 lb.

Ford Explorer 2017 – Expected Launch and Price:

No official communication has been released by Ford on the release date, it is expected that the Ford Explorer 2017 will be in showrooms in the second half of 2016. Prices will start at $34,295 for the base trim and the platinum trim will have prices starting at $44,195.
