Ford EcoSport 2017 Review, Shape and Design

The Ford EcoSport was initially designed for the European and emerging markets, but now a spike in global sales of SUVs has made Ford reconsider remodeling this car. The new Ford EcoSport 2017 will be built on the same platform as the Ford Fiesta and it is an affordable crossover SUV with ample cabin space and average fuel economy. This crossover SUV will first be rolled out in China, Brazil and India to gauge the response, it is rumored that it might make a debut in the American market though that is highly unlikely. Although no official communication on the design has been released, spy shots show that it gets a facelift with the instrument panel in the dashboard also been improved. The Ford EcoSport 2017 is ideal for off-road driving and can drive smoothly through adverse weather conditions. Two trims; Zetec and Titanium will be offered.

Ford EcoSport 2017 – Shape and Design:

The exterior of the Ford EcoSport 2017 gets minor facelift common with cars in their mid cycle of production. The chassis will be made of carbon fiber and aluminum and will have 4 doors. The hexagonal front grill is bigger and has chrome detail on its edges and lines; it merges with the xenon headlights and LED driving lights. The bumper has a mildly aggressive design and has an L shaped fog lights on the outer ring of the air vents. Power side mirrors that fold inwards when the engine is off will be standard; a roof rack has also been introduced. At the rear it retains the boot mounted spare wheel for the European and Asian model and tail lights get a reshape with LED used on them.

The interior of the Ford EcoSport 2017 will have a new and redesigned instrument panel with a new digital display that sits between the tachometer and speedometer. The dashboard is made of plastic and has neon blue illuminated dials. Five passengers can fit into this cabin and all seats are covered in quality fabric. Infotainment has also been improved and it runs on the Ford Sync system that supports smart phone integration and USB and Bluetooth input, it will have its own 4 inch full color display that doubles up as the satellite navigation screen, there also will be new HVAC control knobs. Luggage space hasn’t changed and security features like collision sensors, stability control, tire pressure monitors and child locks.

Ford EcoSport 2017 – Fuel Economy and Engine Specs:

Under the hood the Ford EcoSport will have a 3 engine options for different markets. The base unit is a 1.0 liter EcoBoost petrol engine that produces 110 horsepower. This engine is specifically for the Indian market. There will also be a 1.5 liter Ti-VCT petrol engine and a 1.5 liter TDCi diesel engine both with a capacity of 123 horsepower. The American market will have the same engines, but tweaked for better performance to about 140 hp and torque of 140 pound feet. Buyers have the option of choosing from a manual or automatic six speed transmission with front wheel drive being standard. Fuel economy like in its predecessor is not expected to be high; it will be below 20 miles per gallon.

Ford EcoSport 2017 – Launch Date and Predicted Price:

The Ford EcoSport 2017 will first debut in the South American market in the second half of 2016 then later in India, Asia and Europe. The base trim will retail at $20,000.
