BMW will use the BMW 3 Series platform to design its new crossover SUV. The automaker will use aluminum, carbon fiber and high strength steel in order to improve fuel economy and performance of the car. The exterior will get new modifications that will give the car a prominent appearance. More modern features will be added in the exterior to make the vehicle sportier.

At least 5 engine options will be available for the new BMW X3 2017 SUV. The main engine will be a 2.0-liter Turbocharged I4 diesel, capable of generating 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Closely related to this engine will be a 2.0-liter Turbocharged I4 diesel, capable of producing 180 horsepower and 280 lb-ft.

The third engine will be a 3.0-liter Twin Turbocharged I6 diesel, capable of generating 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.

The automaker is also likely to come up with a petrol variant of the 3.0-liter engine, which is expected to provide more power and torque. The new X3 is also likely to feature the plug-in hybrid technology.

The engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed ZF 8HP automatic transmission system. The car will use a front-wheel drive or a rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive being an option. Fuel consumption will be up to 27 mpg in cities and 34 mpg highways.

Main rivals of the new BMW X3 2017 include: Audi Q5, Mitsubishi Outlander, Volvo XC60, Land Rover Range Evoque, Lexus NX and Acura RDX.

BMW X3 2017 – Price and Release Date:

The upcoming compact luxury BMW X3 2017 is expected to cost more than the outgoing model, and even other CUVs out there. Starting price will be around $40,000. Fully loaded models of BMW X3 2017 will retail as high as at $60,000. Release date is expected in the third quarter of 2016.
