2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid

Volvo XC90 was first spotted on the roads in 2002. The Swedish automobile manufacturer has so far achieved two generations with this mid-size crossover SUV. The upcoming model will feature to variants: pure gasoline and hybrid. 2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid will be the car that will use both gasoline and electric powertrains.

2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid – Design Updates:

According to the car manufacturer, the upcoming XC90 Hybrid will be based on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform. The car will get a complete makeover. We are looking forward to the inclusion of innovative features in all exterior areas. It should now look more modern with sleek overtures, curves and lines.

You can expect a larger grille, slimmer headlights and lowly placed air intakes in the front end of 2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid. In the rear end, the car will get a blacked-out enormous bumper and large tail lights that flank the rear window. The sides will stand out with 20-inch alloy wheels, black skirts, redesigned door handles and roof rails.  The interior of 2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid will be satisfying with a combination of colors and well-arranged cabin components. The typical Scandinavian style finds its way in the interior of the car. You can expect to see leather and wood trims in most parts of the cabin, including seats and steering wheel. Space will also be taken care of in the upcoming crossover.

The car will also come with the latest technology in the automotive industry. You can expect tech features such as 9-inch touchscreen display, a navigation system, a 10-speaker sound system, satellite radio and an auxiliary input jack. More tech features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, heated mirrors, digital gauge cluster display and connection options like Smartphone app integration, Bluetooth and USB port.

2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid will also get a good share of safety and security features. You should look forward to: a rearview camera, cruise control, parking assist, seatbelts, blind-spot monitors, airbags, lane keep assist and security alarms, among other features.

As mentioned earlier, the new Volvo SUV will use both gasoline and electric powertrains. On the side of gasoline, there will be 2.0-liter I4 engine capable of generating 316 hp and 295 lb-ft. The electric powerhouse will be an 8 “Twin Engine” with an 82-hp electric motor. When combined, the two powertrains will produce 400 hp and 472 lb-ft.

The 2.0-liter engine will work with an 8-speed transmission which supports an all-wheel drive. The hybrid car will take 6.0 seconds to achieve the 0 to 60 mph acceleration. The electric powertrain can enable the car cover 25 miles before running out of charge. Concerning fuel economy, the car will have EPA figures of around 24 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

The new 2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid will compete for the market share with these cars: BMW X5, Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, Range Rover Sport, Lexus GX460 and Acura MDX.

2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid – Release Date and Expected Price:

The base price of the new Volvo SUV will be $68,100. There will be two trim levels: T8 R-Design and T8 Inscription, and you can expect to dig deeper in your pocket to purchase them. As for the release date, the mid-size crossover SUV will go on sale in the second quarter of 2016.
